Balboa Park is 1,200 acres of Spanish-Renaissance architecture, gardens, and fountains right in the middle of the city — the most versatile single location in San Diego. In one session we can move from ornate colonnades to lily ponds to cactus gardens without ever moving the car.
It's a year-round favorite for engagements, families, and quinceañera and milestone portraits, with shade and interest even at midday.
Getting there: About 5 minutes from downtown — the most central spot in the city.
Local know-how: The park is free to wander, but commercial photography permits are required for sessions — we'll sort that out before the shoot. Weekends and spring quinceañera season get busy; early morning is calmest.
