Encinitas is the laid-back heart of the North County coast — surf breaks, flower-lined bluffs, and the meditation gardens above Swami's. It has a softer, more bohemian feel than the resort towns, which suits couples who want something a little less formal.
Between the botanic garden, the beaches, and the golden bluffs, it's a lovely spot for engagements and relaxed family sessions.
Getting there: About 30 minutes north of downtown along the coast.
Local know-how: Bluff parking along Coast Highway 101 is limited on weekends. The Botanic Garden requires a photography reservation for sessions, which I'll arrange.
